Crossing the finishing line will have a very special meaning this year for a team of Afford Bond runners, led by our very own Lindsay Beeston. They have taken on the challenge of raising £2,000 for the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice in conjunction with the Weston Christmas Light Display switch-on at Carters Green Farm, Weston.
Pride of Crewe winner, Graham Witter has raised a staggering £40,000 for the hospice since he started decorating the Weston family home in 2013. Graham (23) said: “It all started when I began decorating the family home for my late sister, Jessica, who had cardio-facio cutaneous syndrome and severe epilepsy. But when Jessica passed away in December 2015, I decided to continue my festive fundraiser in her memory.”
This year he hopes to create an even brighter and more animated display throughout December and has promised visitors this will be the best display yet. Graham added: “Visitors can expect to see hundreds of lights added to the display this year, and I hope will be delighted by the addition of a magical village, which brings Christmas to life.”
The Afford Bond charity fun run takes place on Friday 1st December, starting at Afford Bond’s Chester office at 11am, to arrive at Carters Green Farm in Weston for the festive switch-on at 6.15pm. Training is already underway led by Director, Lindsay Beeston, whose last big run was the 2017 London Marathon. “We’re delighted to be supporting the Weston Christmas Light display and to help raise funds for this great charity. We are proud to be involved in the local community and I hope to beat the £2,000 target.”
Graham added: “This is a new and exciting addition for 2017, and I’m delighted that Afford Bond have decided to support me. It will add to the excitement to welcome home the running team to the official light display switch-on this year.”
